Is Village Home Mortgage a Scam?
76I was doing an research online and I noticed that a lot of people are interested to know if Village Home Mortgage is a scam. I have heard about the said company before but I never really took interest in it until now as I would like to learn more about it and understand why there are people who ask if it is a scam. According to the company's website, they are an employee-owned company that has a combined experience of 50 years in the mortgage industry. It is also stated there that they have been able to fund billions of dollars in mortgage loans because of their expertise and professionalism. Aside from that, according to the BBB (Better Business Bureau), they have a rating of A on a scale of A+ to F. When you read up on the information posted on their website, you would - obviously - not think of the Village Home Mortgage as a scam. However it is by reading customer complaints that you can get a sense of why they think of it as a fraud. I was not able to get more information about the company as it was a bit difficult to find articles pertaining to it. I still am not able to know whether the mortgage company is a scam or not. Nonetheless, here are some of the things to keep in mind so that you will be able to protect yourself from fraudulent home mortgage lenders.
- You should be careful when dealing with mortgage companies that are unheard of. It is best to know the background of the company and ask for licenses as well as identification cards. You can also call Better Business Bureau directly and ask them about that specific company. Because your town has a list of recognized mortgage lenders, it would be best to find out if they are included in it and if the company is stable enough to do business with.
- Be wary of extremely high or low fees. While it is understandable that you may be taken aback when the lender offers an extremely high fee, there are some people who get interested when they are being presented with lower fees. However, you should find out more about their offer as there may be hiding other fees in small print in your contract. Ask them for calculations as to how they arrived at tat particular fee. It is advisable to speak with different mortgage lenders and ask for the best deals they can give you. By doing so, you will be able to compare data and find out which one will be the most ideal for your situation.
- If your mortgage lender encourages you to do a particular task that you know is wrong, it would be better for you to stay away from him or her. They may ask you to falsify your documents by stating wrong information on the application form. Mortgage lenders should know better as this act is punishable by law. You should also refuse to sign any blank document that they send to you as you do not know what this will contain. This is not an industry practice and it never will be.
These are the simple ways on how you can protect yourself from doing business with mortgage scams. The key here is to be intelligent about the people and companies you deal with. If you are unsure about a particular mortgage lender or company, you should ask more information about them first before doing any business with them.
If you have any information about the Village Home Mortgage and if it is indeed a scam, feel free to share it here as others may find it useful.
