More people today are using shampoos for hair loss. Although there many such products available in the market today, there are still people who would still prefer to use natural hair loss shampoo. Hair loss affects both men and women and there are various causes that have been linked to it. These include genetic factors, improper care, stress, illnesses and lack of certain nutrients. Ingredients most hair loss shampoos have may not be good for the hair and the scalp and this is the reason why it is much better to use a hair loss shampoo that has natural ingredients. However, natural hair loss shampoos in stores today may still contain ingredients that are not natural. If you want to make sure that the shampoo you are using is all natural, you can make your own shampoo at home. Here are some of the ways on how to make your own natural hair loss shampoo.

For your ingredients, you will be needing:

  • A jar
  • 8 oz bottle (can be an empty shampoo bottle)
  • 2000 mg of MSM (organic sulfur)
  • 1/2 oz Rosemary
  • 1/2 oz Sage
  • 1/2 oz Nettles
  • 1/2 oz Lavender
  • 4 oz of Castile soap (this will be your base)

  1. Place in the jar all of the herbs (Rosemary, Lavender, Nettles, Sage)
  2. Boil 2 cups of distilled water. Add to this three heaps of the herb mixture.
  3. After it has boiled, remove it from the heat. Let it cool for about 30 to 45 minutes.
  4. Add MSM to the herbal mixture once it has cooled. Wait for 10 minutes before straining the mixture into a bowl.
  5. Pour 2 1/2 oz of the said mixture in the empty plastic bottle. Add to this the 4 oz Castile soap you have prepared.
  6. Put the cap on the bottle and shake it well.

Rosemary is known to help strengthen the hair follicles and promote hair growth. Sage contains antioxidants and antibacterial properties that help keep the scalp clean. Nettles meanwhile stimulates hair growth and has nutrients which that the body needs to have healthy and strong hair. Lavender is a great herb to use to reduce itch and treat flaky scalp. These are the simple steps on how to make your own natural hair loss shampoo. You can immediately use the shampoo right after making it.

Sounds very promising. Even though I don't really have thinning haird, it sounds like it would keep your scalp and hair healthy. Can all the main ingredients be purchased in a health food store?

Hi Patricia. Yes, the ingredients are usually available in your local health food store.

Hi Vrajavala, the sulfur is great for itchy scalp and helps keep the hair healthy too :-)
